Musicworks
Notes for Contributors to Musicworks
Musicworks is the scholarly journal of the Australian National Council of Orff Schulwerk (ANCOS). It provides a forum for double blind-reviewed articles concerning all areas of implementation of Orff pedagogy and philosophy. Manuscripts for possible publication should be typeset and sent to the editor. Submission date each year is 1 April.
Quoted music must be cleared with copyright holders before sending to Musicworks, with copies of letters included in submissions. This journal accepts articles about Orff musical process from members and the music community at large, both nationally and internationally. Before submitting articles, contributors should check the website of ANCOS for links confirming submission information.
The 2013 issue addresses ways teachers facilitate students' interpretative abilities and creative responses. The issue focuses on links between active music making approaches. This is timely as the National Cultural Policy makes connections with the Australian Curriculum.
Manuscript submission and review
1. Manuscripts should be 4,000-6,000 words, with shorter manuscripts considered.
2. The author’s name must not appear on the article itself but on a separate page.
3. It is the author’s responsibility to ensure that all musical examples, transcriptions, tables and figures are accurate.
4. It is the author’s responsibility to gain the permission of copyright holders to reproduce that work in articles.
5. All musical examples intended should be reproduced as tif. or jpg. files of high quality.
6. Contributors should examine articles in recent volumes for guidance on preferred APA referencing style.
7. Manuscripts are reviewed by at least two readers and the editor. Taking into account the reports of the readers, the editor will either accept, accept subject to revision, or reject the manuscript, and will notify the author detailing any required revisions as appropriate.
Articles for consideration should be sent by April 1st to the editor, care of:
