17th Biennial ANCOS Conference - "Voices of the Swan" 8-13 January 2012

Andrea Sangiorgio - Co-founder and director of CDM Centro Didattico Musicale, a music school in Rome inspired by the Orff approach. 

Robyn Staveley - Well known as a presenter in NSW, nationally and internationally for Orff Schulwerk associations and other music education organisations.

Kalani - A percussionist with over 30 years of professional experience, his work is featured at conferences and through organizations worldwide.

Christiane Wieblitz - Teacher of Elementary Music and Dance Education at the Orff-Institute, Salzburg, Austria, she specialized in children’s choir work. 

The Venue 

Wesley College - A K-12 Uniting Church school located on a picturesque campus on the southern side of the Swan River with direct views of Perth Central Business District. The college is in the leafy suburb of South Perth and only five minutes from the city.

This paper was prepared by Anette Kerkovius on behalf of the Australian National Council of Orff Schulwerk to contribute to the National Review on Music Education under the heading of best practice of teaching and learning.

The submission gives a historical overview as well as illustrating the enormous value of Orff Schulwerk as a unique approach to music education in the contemporary Australian setting.
