Circular not linear!!
Session Abstract
Aboriginal learning is all about circles and cycles, all connected with our earth mother. The first music we hear is in utero and is the lifegiving heartbeat of our own mother.
The music and dance of Aboriginal Australia was not intended as performance, as indeed there is no audience in ceremony. All who attend participant in creating the music and the dance. The ancient Bora ring and the continuance of circular formations ensures the inclusion of all participants and the equal standing of participants.
The connections are to the earth and the vibrations that continually emanate from her being and from all of. That connection is further enhanced with the oldest woodwind instrument in the world; The Yidaki.
As with any instrument, there are limitless rhythms and song cycles. Along with clapsticks and boomerangs, traditional language songs and grounded dance movement we pay our respects to our earth mother and to all creation.
