Workshop Christoph Maubach
 

Christoph Maubach trained originally at the Orff-Institute, University ‘Mozarteum’ He completed Post Graduate Studies in Movement and Dance at M.C.A.E. and a Master of Education at Melbourne. He is lecturer in Music Education at ACU and runs the Graduate Certificate and Graduate Diploma courses in Orff Music Education at ACU. Christoph is the musical director and arranger for the Brazilian choir Borboleta in Melbourne and conducts the community choir Living Song. He performs with the A Capella trio Golden Fleece specialising in the polyphonic music from Georgia in the Caucasian mountains. In 1991/1992 he was lecturer at the Orff-Institute and in 2001 he spent two months teaching Orff Approach workshops for various AOSA chapters in the USA, at a chapter conference in Seattle and at the AOSA National conference. In the last five years he has conducted Orff Approach workshops in Taiwan, Hong Kong, New Zealand, Malaysia, Indonesia, South Africa and many places in Australia. His creative works include recordings and performances with the ensemble Shenanigans, with the Brazilian ensemble Borboleta, his self-produced CD Step Back Sally, contributions to the book Canons of Peace and Hope (published in the USA), the Musical Adventures on the evening show of ABC Radio, Melbourne and the CD Songs from Georgia recorded with Dr. Nino Tsitsishvili and Dr Jordania.
Christoph’s music educational efforts at present focus on the uniquely Australian creative music and dance. He combines creative ideas with a step-by-step approach in education. His interests currently see him intertwine a variety of stimuli such as community-created vocal sounds, digital images, Australian outdoor and wildlife themes and texts, for creative learning experiences. His current research activities illuminate the subject matter of various learning theories and how these dovetail creativity in the Orff Approach.

Session Abstract

Beginning with sounds and images from Australian outdoor life and Australian wildlife this workshop inspires rhythmical and vocal collages for learners of all ages. Starting points include visual imagery, recordings from nature, and texts. The workshop intertwines creative ideas for vocal and rhythmical music making with a sequential learning development. Existing sound bites, projections and playful structures will be combined with the traditional Orff Approach tools such as dance -movement, voice, body percussion, speech and Recorder.
