Karen has been a Music Teacher at Gorokan High since 1985. Co -writer for Gorokan Workshops vol.1 and 2. Attended the International Symposium and English speaking Summer School,Orff Institute Salzburg 1990 and Laban International Summer School in Eastbourne, England, 1990. Conducted many teacher workshops in NSW and NE Victoria with Carol Richards.

Composition for Stage 5 and 6

Session Abstract

This workshop will explore the use of modelling and analysis as a springboard to composition. Participants will use material from Matthew Hindson’s RPM to create a group composition.
Baroque style, Ritornello Form composition will be discussed and student compositions viewed. Exploration of 12 Tone serialism and the use of the octatonic scale will be demonstrated and discussed
