Workshop Annalise Friend
 

Annalise is passionate about movement, percussion, body percussion and spoken word. She has trained extensively with Greg Sheehan, Janis Claxton, Alice Cummins, Tony Osborne, Matthew Doyle, Helen Clarke-Lapin, Al Wunder and other world leaders in improvisation, dance and rhythm. She has performed at Woodford Folk Festival Rhythm Festivals 1999-2000 & 2001-2002, and Bellingen Global Carnivals, Newtown Festival, Bodies Dance Festival with body percussion ensembles and dance troupes, as well as solo.
She has created an unique blend of spoken word and body percussion solo performance and has supported Michael Franti and Spearhead, and poetry slam finals in Sydney.
Her passion for teaching has ignited a love of rhythm and movement in folks of all ages and abilities since 2000, including Australian Theatre of the Deaf, I Sing on the Cake, TAFE, Uni, school and community classes. She is often seen improvising explosive movement with her musician mates, such as Greg Sheehan and Si. Check it out @ www.slapsista.com

Slapdance

Session Abstract

Slap, stomp, clap, tickle and tap! Dive into the streams of body percussion groove! Drawing on Greg Sheehan’s infectious, unique approach to rhythm, we will establish pulse, explore odd time signatures, play with flamenco and hip hop rhythms through the body and make our own short slapdance. You will receive insights into teaching rhythm to everyone with a heartbeat!
