Susie is a music and movement educator, Orff practitioner, jazz musician, composer and president of the Victorian Orff Schulwerk Association for the second time in 10 years.
She has lectured and conducted professional development workshops throughout Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, USA, as well as the Orff Institute in Salzburg, Austria.
From 2000 - 2003, Susie was the Director of Music and the Performing Arts at The King David School in Melbourne, overseeing the performing arts curriculum from 18 months to 18 years. Together with entertainer and musician Phil Splitter, she has developed the popular ‘Welcome to Music’ Series of CD’s, books, musicals and choral range for children of all
ages.
Get Orff with Blues and all that Jazz
Session Abstract
Combining Orff principles that inspire, excite and motivate children to remember, understand and love music, experience speech, song, dance, movement, body percussion and instruments.
Bluesy and jazzy styles of music will be used as a basis to experience various rhythmic and melodic techniques including imitation, echo, ostinato and canon leading to improvisation. The emphasis is on active participation with a strong sense of fun and enjoyment.
