Row, row, row your boat. Session Abstract Yoga is a wonderful movement approach to introduce to young children, aiding focus, flexibility & balance, building a varied movement repertoire in a playful way as well as complimenting & supporting other learning. Although yoga appears to be about the body, it is about the whole child: mind, emotions & spirit. Yoga is non-competitive, raises self-esteem & self-awareness, strengthening the child's body at whatever level of health or coordination they begin with. Yoga suits a child's developmental need for imaginative play in movement as they imitate animals & objects. We use music, games, stories & props to engage children's interest & creativity. Yoga also emphasizes relaxation to reenergize & consolidate learning. |
