Sound waves evoking lifelong learning

14th Biennial Australian National Conference of Orff Schulwerk January 8 - 13 2006

Venue

The venue for our conference is the Shore School, Blues Point Road,
NorthChapel Sydney where we have booked their fabulous Performing Arts Centre.
We will also have access to their in-house boarding accommodation and excellent catering/dining facilities for our delegates' delight.

The Arts Centre has a large air conditioned auditorium which seats 500 and includes a wooden floored stage with ample wing space (enough for 250 people to move around in). Additionally there are 5 breakout rooms (2 0f which have wooden floors), including a large space for instrument making if we need it and a beautiful choir room with stalls for 50 persons.

The ambience of Shore is warm and spacious with rolling lawns, views of the harbour and the famous Harbour Bridge, and 2 swimming pools. Since the summer holiday renovations the boarding houses comprise 51 single rooms and 30 twin share. Some of our committee members are looking into alternatives for those of you who might not want to stay on campus. I will let you know at a later date the final costs involved. I am aware some of you will be staying with family and friends. Shore is perfectly situated for public transport. Five minutes walk away is North Sydney train station which is also a major bus terminal, and for an aerobic fitness workout the ferry is an uphill 15 minute walk in the morning. The Performing Arts Centre has secure undercover parking for 100 cars.

There is also a separate large dining room which we will be using for our Official Conference Dinner and a gorgeous large wooden verandah at the front of the Performing Arts Centre - just perfect for drinks after the Opening Ceremony before the Welcome BBQ on the lawn.
