Barbara Haselbach

Barbara is a University professor at the Institute for Music and Movement Education, in Salzburg known as the “ Orff- Institut ” .

In 1974 Barbara Haselbach became a professor at the Carl Orff- Institute, University for Music ‘ Mozar teum ’ , Salzburg, with special interest in “didactics and methodology of the elementary movement education”. From 1979- 82 and again 1988- 92 she was the Director of the Orff Institut, and since 1994 has been the chairperson of the post- graduate course “ Advanced Studies in Musical and Dance Education ( Orff Schulwerk) ” . In 1995 she became the convener of the International Symposium to celebrate Orff ’ s 100th birthday. In this year she also received the honor of being awarded the prestigious PRO MERITO award from the Carl Orff Foundation.

Barbara studied Literature and Musicology in Vienna, Austria and Bern, Switzerland. She did her professional dance training at the Harold Kreutzberg dance academy Bern and in the USAQ. She has also studied yoga in Germany and through the European Yoga Union.

Barbara Haselbach has been a guest teacher at conferences and courses in more than 30 countries including Europe, North and South America, Canada, Latin America, Australia and Asia. She has designed choreography work for stage, film and television. She is an honorary member of the American and Spanish Orff Schulwerk societies. She is currently the chairwoman of the Orff Schulwerk Forum for international contacts. In addition Barbara Haselbach is the editor of the “Orff Schulwerk Informationen” and authoress of numerous publications.
